“Wedding of Psyché”

“Wedding of Psyché”

The Marriage of Psyche
XVIIIth century
Dimensions: 300 x 600

Brussels tapestry of the eighteenth century representing the wedding of Psyche.
Its imposing horizontal format allows us to appreciate the subject of banquet including numerous characters.

The originality of this piece is that the artist has chosen to give importance to the feast and arts illustrated in the foreground. Musicians, poets and singers celebrate the marriage of Cupid and Psyche.

The banquet takes place in the background, sitting among their guests, the two lovers are kissing.
