André Lanskoy (1902–1976) was a Russian-born French painter and a leading figure of the School of Paris. Renowned for his vibrant use of color and energetic abstract forms, he embraced lyrical abstraction to convey the emotional resonance of shape and movement. His shift from figurative art to pure abstraction reflected a profound exploration of color theory and visual rhythm. In the 1950s, Lanskoy partnered with the Aubusson ateliers to bring his paintings to life as textiles, crafting richly textured tapestries that captured the vitality of his original works. At Modern Masters Tapestries, we are honored to present one of his rare, monumental wool tapestries—a striking embodiment of his visionary style.
